With the launch of your organizations in the app your contract gives you 1 main deep link and QR code that our team generates for you.
The way this QR code and deep link works is:
When anyone who does not have the app installed already clicks on it they will be directed to download the app first. Once downloaded and launched, the app will show an exclusive view of all your content while hiding all other organizations - until the user chooses to "see everything" - option in the app menu.
For those who already have the app downloaded - when they click the link it will launch the app and show an exclusive view of your content instantly - until the users choose to see other content.
We can only generate this deep link and QR code for you once you’ve made your organizations and POIs live in the app for at least a month.
This helps avoid sync delays in the app when users click the deeplink. - if/when the deeplink is clicked by the user that association organization or POI is not present, then the app starts by synchronizing the content with the Driftscape server. When that sync process is completed, then the deeplink action will happen. The speed of this can vary depending on how recently the app was used by a user (data synchronization happens automatically in the background when the app is open), and how fast their internet speed is.
But let's say that a user downloads the app for the very first time using this link and your organizations or POIs went live in the app only recently, then it may take them a few minutes to start seeing all of it, regardless of how long it has been since your content went live in the app.
Generally, our tech team publishes new mobile apps every few months. When we do, the apps include a new ‘data drop’ of recent new public data in the Driftscape server. If your content went live before this data drop and app update process, then when a new user downloads the app for the first time using your QR code or link they will instantly see your content without having to wait (since the associated organization and/or POIs will be present in the app)
That being said, we do not update the mobile apps, especially with new data drops, all that frequently.. We do not do these on request basis from customers. So, plan your deeplink usage carefully, giving us at least a month prior to the public launch of the associated content, before you actively use them.
One way to work around this limitation is to create ‘placeholder’ public POIs that you intend to use with deeplinks and marketing campaigns. Since the POI will be part of a recent app sync (or part of the next mobile app store update), then the deeplink action will happen immediately. And, if you update the POI with new content later on, the user will still see the correct content, since the POI content is always fetched from the Driftscape server when it is opened in the app, and it is not part of the synchronization process.
Apart from the main deep link we create for you, your contract may include unlimited self-created deep links that your team can create. Check with your customer success representative for more details.
