All Organizations is a drop down menu listing all of the Organizations on the Driftscape platform. It is displayed at the bottom of the Category View in the mobile apps, and can be used to turn off and on content from specific organizations.
Augmented Reality or AR is a composite view of real-world and digital imagery. When using AR view, Driftscape users will see the location of 3D markers overlaid on the real world images around them through the lens of their smartphone.
Automated Business Directories (ABDs)
Automated Business Directories are a Driftscape feature that creates rich POIs for local businesses based on only very basic inputs (such as the business name and location). This is done using Driftscape’s proprietary automated internet search algorithm.
Categories can and should be assigned to Driftscape POIs. Users can filter by specific categories in the app using the “Category View” accessed from the icon in the bottom right corner of the mobile apps. Examples of categories include “Art”, “History”, “Food & Drink”.
Content Management System (CMS)
The Driftscape Content Management System or CMS is the website that is used to create and maintain all of the content that appears in the mobile and web apps. It is also used to view analytics. The Coupon Management System is a Driftscape feature that enables customers to offer coupons directly within their POIs. Coupons can be securely redeemed by users from within the apps.
Deep Links are special links that can direct users to specific content within the Driftscape app. They work regardless of what device the user is using (mobile phone or computer), and whether or not they already have the Driftscape app installed. Deep links can direct users to a customer’s custom menu, all of a specific customer’s content, a specific POI, and more. The Driftscape team will assist in generating deep links.
Driftscape Trivia is a weekly curated trivia game created by the Driftscape team highlighting fun facts found in POIs.
An Event is a type of POI created in the Driftscape CMS. Events are similar to Places but they have Start and End dates, as well as a mandatory field to let people know the Time, Date & Venue where the event will take place.
GPS
Global Positioning System. Driftscape uses GPS data to display content that relates to a user’s location.
iframe
An iframe (or inline frame) is an element used to embed content within a webpage. iframes are used to embed Driftscape for Web in another webpage.
Internal POI links are links from one POI to another, within the Driftscape apps, and can be added to POIs from the CMS.
In the mobile and web apps users can select to view POIs as items in a list. This is called List View.
In the mobile and web apps users can select to view POIs as points on a map. This is called Map View.
Media includes images, videos, audio, and 3D objects that are added to POIs.
An advanced feature that enables certain content to be displayed to users only when they enter a defined geographic region, called a Microregion. A welcome message is also displayed when users enter a Microregion.
News Notifications
New Notifications are sent out by the Driftscape team to share big news with Driftscape users. They appear in the “Driftscape News” section of the app, and can be sent to all users, or limited to users in certain locations.
Organizations/Sub-Layers
All of the POIs within Driftscape belong to an “Organization”. Customers may have one or more Organization that is associated with their brand, and contain their POIs. Sub-Layers can be created under a main or “parent” Organization, and allow for fine-grained control and branding of POIs. For example a customer may have a parent organization called “Visit Greenville” and sub-layers called “Greenville Attractions”, “Greenville Food & Drink” and “GreenHistory”.
A Place is a type of POI created in the Driftscape CMS. A place is displayed as a single point on the map with associated text & image(s) and/or video(s) and audio.
Point of Interest (POI)
Point of Interest or POI refers to any ‘Place,’ ‘Event,’ or ‘Tour’ mapped in the Content Management System (CMS). Each POI has a physical location (address or latitude/longitude) associated with it so it can be displayed on a map in the apps.
Points and Rewards is a Driftscape feature that enables customers to create their own points & rewards system. Points can be awarded at any POI, and rewards can be offered to users who have collected enough points.
Push Notifications are notifications that a customer can send to users who have subscribed to receive them. Because they require a user to subscribe, we call them Opt-in Push Notifications. They can be sent instantly, or scheduled, and can be sent by in-app notification, text message and email.
A QR code is a code that can be read using the camera on a smartphone, and directs the user to a specific web address. QR codes can be used in printed material to share deep links to specific content in Driftscape.
Quests are similar to scavenger hunts. A Quest consists of a series of Quest Stops, and typically one stop will include a clue to lead users to find the next. Quest Stops only appear when a user is close to that location, or zooms in on that location on the map.
Roles are used to set different permission levels in the Driftscape CMS [Content Management System]. There are three types of Roles (or permission levels) that can be applied to you and your team members. These are, in order of greater capabilities: Organization Managers, Editors, and Authors.
A Tour is a type of POI created in the Driftscape CMS. A Tour will consist of a tour overview, mapped at the location of the tour’s start point. Tours will also include any number of tour stops, and a tour route. Text, images, video and audio can be included in the tour overview and in the tour stops.
Trial Mode enables teams to preview their content in the mobile and web apps exactly as it will appear when published, before making it publicly available.
URL
This is the address of a webpage. For example www.driftscape.com is a URL.
UUID
The UUID is a unique code associated with each individual POI in Driftscape. It can be used when linking directly to a specific POI.
The Written Description is the text description that accompanies each Point of Interest. This is the text that will be displayed to users when they view a POI.
