Driftscape has now launched support for custom 3D objects in Augmented Reality Mode for iOS. This powerful feature turns Driftscape into an exciting way for you to enrich on-site tourism.
3D Objects:
Augmented Reality exploration:
This is how it works (currently only support in iOS):
Previously, the POI sprites in AR mode were flat transparent planes:
These are now replaced with automatically generated 3D map markers.
When the user is close enough, a custom 3D object can replace the new 3D Point of Interest marker.Click here to see a video example or see sample images below:
You can create virtual objects as easily as any graphic resource, or even scan actual objects into models that can be scaled and viewed in-app.
Objects can be general, or ‘planar’, so they are placed on a nearby detected flat surface, like the ground or a table top.
Endless possibilities to use 3D objects to inform and entertain:
Past historic buildings
Virtual museum pieces
Add an old car in street, a sailing ship in the harbor
Add a virtual historical figure as a local guide
3D objects will be an extra paid add-on for all customers. If you are interested in participating in the alpha program or signing up, contact your Driftscape representative.
