Auto-translation

As of mid April 2024, all English content in the CMS is now automatically translated and available in French. This works across our full product line, Driftscape for Web and mobile apps. This amazing new functionality is achieved by utilizing the power of Google Translation APIs behind the scenes to continuously translate content as it is edited and changed in the CMS.

For our users, it’s as simple as just opening any POI, and switching the language:

All CMS content is translated automatically, including:

  • POI content, titles, media captions, read more sections, events, tours, and tour stops.

  • Organization descriptions.

  • POI callouts in map and list view.

  • Keyword for search: you can search on terms in the translated text.

Auto-translations can be viewed from within every POI simply by changing the language selector displayed at the top of the content. Or, you can change the default language for the app from the app menu (mobile and Driftscape for Web):

  • For the iOS and Android apps, change the main language from the Settings menu option:

  • In Driftscape for Web, the language selector is directly accessible from the main menu:

Auto-translation works in conjunction with our multilingual support. If you have created your own translations for POIs, those are displayed instead of the auto-translations.

In the CMS, there is nothing our partners and customers have to do to enable auto-translation… it just works, always, for all content! All English content is translated to French whenever you add or edit it (unless you have entered your own French content with our multilingual support).

We will be adding additional auto-translation languages in the near future, so that all of partner content can be enjoyed and read by others!
